P&A 2023 Show Update
Preparations the Edenhope Show, to be held on Saturday November 18th, 2023, are well under way, and we are extreamly pleased to announce that our ‘Feature Artist’ this year will be Cindy Bunt. Catch her in the ‘Old Apex’ Shed, along with the Spinners and Weavers and the fleeces of wool!
For the kids entertainment there will be Laser Tag, the mower pull, and, with thanks once again to the West Wimmera Shire Youth, we will have the Virtual Reality (VR) experience, which has become very popular, aimed mainly at the younger show goers, but it is quite an experience for all! There will also be a Nature experience with Wicked Wildlife running information sessions during the day.
On the Arena the Apsley Pony Club will be holding their Show Jumping, and we will once again, be running the Topsy Ring for the younger horse enthusiasts and a Casual Ring as well. The Risk/Waiver form can be downloaded from our Animal Activities page.
The Yard Dogs will get under way nice and early, and again this year, in the Cattle Ring, we will hold the Led Calf Competition for school aged kids, and of course, there will be the Sheep, and the Poultry competitions, as well as the Prime Lamb Shearing Competition.
The Show will be opened at 11.00, followed by the Show Award presentations, and the Tiny Tots and Fashions on the Show Ground, and, of course, there will be plenty of food and drink outlets in the Food Court, and in the Pavilion Dining Room, and this year, the popular duo ‘Leather and Lace, will provide the live music.
In the Pavilion, we are expecting some great entries again in all areas, Cookery, Craft and Fancy Work, Photography and Art, and Floral Art, Flowers and Farm and Garden, and please note that the delivery of articles to be shown must be completed by 5.00pm on Friday 17th, including Flowers!

If you would like to join the P&A Society, our Membership form is available from our website, the main benefit being the cheaper Family Entry to the Show. The P&A is always looking for Sponsors for activities and events during the day, so if you have a desire to assist us, and promote your business at the same time, please contact us. We are also looking for stewards and helpers before and on Show Day, so please contact Ian Hiller on 0404 010 582, if you can assist. We will be holding a ‘Stewards’ Workshop’ just before the Show, to explain the duties of our valued Show Day helpers.
Our sincere thanks goes out to all our sponsors and advertisers and to all the volunteers who work tirelessly in the background!

2023 AGM
The ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING of the Edenhope P&A Society was held on March 7th, 2023,
in the Main Pavilion at the Edenhope Showgrounds, and it was great to see some new faces on the committee, with Jess Sambell elected to the position of President for 2023 and Mon Treglown elected as Senior Vice President.
The 2023 Edenhope Show will be held on Saturday 18th November 2023, and the Show Book should be available in September, but you can start getting your entries organised now. If your woolclasser comments on a particularly good fleece, put it aside for the Show, keep some of your Jams and Preserves now for the Show, and start thinking of the Fancy Work and Craft that you could be working on over Winter!
See you at the Show.

2022 Edenhope Show Report.
When the heavens opened over the Edenhope Showground just before 10.00am on Saturday the 19th November 2022 it looked like the Show was going to be a washout! But lots of people, whether using modern technology or a bit of old fashioned weather sense, could see that there was a very high chance that it would clear before the official opening time, and it did! And when it did they came out in droves with an average turnout through the main gate. The rain did cause a few disruptions though. The Yard Dog competition had to be cancelled due to excess water lying in the yards. The kids’ bouncing castle and slide, the mower pull and the mini hay bale roll were abandoned, but the Led Calf, the Topsy Ring and the Show Shearing continued, the Sheep judging was conducted inside the Sheep Pavilion, and Virtual Reality continued to operate. The Chooks stayed dry but some of the outside exhibiters had to delay their setup, and at midday the Horsham and Naracoorte Pipe Band marched into the Showground to herald the official opening of the show, conducted by ex local Rachael Carbert (nee Lloyd) now a resident of Saskatchewan Canada. After opening the Show Rachael presented the VAS Junior Ambassador Award to Jordan Baxter, the VAS Rural Ambassador Award to Hayley Grigg and the Brolga Award to Diana Saville - all very worthy recipients!
The Pipe band marched out and Linda Gutheridge then very competently judged the Tiny Tots and the Fashions, with Edith Bentley taking out Miss Tiny Tot, Eli West being judged Master Tiny Tot, Ivy Linto was Junior Miss Showgirl and Rachael Carbert was awarded Fashions on the Showground. Congratulations to all!
When the Main Pavilion opened after the Judging was finished, it was obvious that the number of entries were down on previous years, but the improved lighting in the building (made possible by the awarding of a grant to the Show Society in 2020) showed the exhibits at their best and, despite the very unusual weather we have experienced over the last few months, the Flowers and the Farm and Garden exhibits were very good.
There were good entries in both Photography and the Art sections making colourful and interesting displays, and the Fancy Work and the Craft sections were well supported.
Once again the Naracoorte Spinners and Weavers put on a great display of their craft in the ‘Old Apex Shed’ and Rosemary Nolen had a chance to present her new book, ‘The Foxes of Yallamatter Swamp’, after her launch of the book the evening before at the Red Tail Gallery.
It was great to have a community day for all who attended and the Show Committee would like to thank everyone who assisted from Sponsors and Advertisers to Stewards and helpers and, of course, the people of the district. Thank You!
